A Prodigal Daughter Song of Grace

About this video

“My Father Ran” takes the story of Luke 15 and reimagines the prodigal as a daughter who has fallen about as far as she can fall. She wastes what she was given, drinks with men who barely remember her, trades her body for food and a place to sleep, sells her beauty to strangers, and nearly loses the last pieces of herself just trying not to be alone. By the time she turns toward home, she has no dignity left to defend and expects nothing more than a servant’s place. But the song turns on one powerful image: while she is still far off, her Father sees her and runs. She comes home filthy, ashamed, and carrying the consequences of the life she chose. He does not wait for her to clean herself up or prove she deserves another chance. “My Father Ran” is about just how low a person can sink—and how far Yahweh’s mercy will reach to bring the lost home.
