“Measure for Measure” takes the dark heart of Shakespeare’s play and drives it into a hard song about corrupt authority, religious hypocrisy, and the judgment waiting for those who use the law to crush the weak. Angelo sits safely behind his office, his reputation, and his righteous words, but none of them can hide what he really is. The song builds around a simple warning: the judge will one day be judged by the same measure he used against everyone else.
