“A Purpose Under Heaven” is an original song based on Ecclesiastes 3, looking beyond the familiar lines about “a time for everything” and pressing deeper into the chapter’s message about God’s purpose, human limits, judgment, and the work He gives His people to do. This song is not based on The Byrds’ song “There Is a Season.” My song seeks to encapsulate all of Ecclesiastes 3, and in my opinion, it is better because it praises God.
